PAS 99 – Requirements for Integrated Management Systems

PRESS RELEASE

Friday, 3 February 2006

BSI Management Systems has initiated and is sponsoring the UK's National Standards Body, the British Standards Institution, to develop the world’s first Integrated Management Requirements standard. It is anticipated the Publicly Available Specification, PAS 99, will be available in May 2006.

The PAS is being created in response to market demand and will be accessible for all national and international certification bodies to assess organisations. PAS 99 will provide a framework to enable organisations to integrate their existing management systems standards into one structure to effectively and efficiently achieve their objectives. With an increasing number of management systems standards being developed, the PAS will reduce confusion and help businesses align their systems and processes. PAS 99 will provide the over-arching management system standard customers have been requesting.

BSI Management Systems is currently working with David Smith on the content of the PAS. David Smith, author of IMS: The Framework, among other publications on this subject, is also currently involved in writing The ISO Hand Book on Integrated Management.
